Story of the Home

There is very much a village atmosphere around here, when people move to Chiswick, they tend not to leave. The area is quiet, calm, green, and so close to transport. On a Saturday I can get a bus at the end of my road, directly to Piccadilly Circus within 40 minutes.

The property is flooded with light from all directions, at all times of day, and that really did give me an enormous sense of well -being having worked from home the past few years. There are two beautiful trees outside my living room which are in bloom most of the year.

The sunlight at around 4pm floods into the reading/dining nook in the living room, and makes a perfect spot to relax with a cuppa, or a spot for dinner. The light, and the huge windows are what really sold the apartment to me. The various levels are also a plus, as they separate each area. It gives a real sense of space and privacy when needed.

I have put a lot of thought into the design; it was created with love and care. The aim was to make it as “Hygge” as possible.

I refurbished the whole apartment, installed a new kitchen and two very stylish bathrooms, also brand new windows that are in keeping with the period of the building. I also added pale white ash flooring that really makes a lovely neutral canvas, which gives the home a Scandinavian feel. I am inspired by 1920/30’s Parisian décor, and the property has been designed to have a calming pallet, individual, chic and characterful edge.

The Swan Pub is just a 2 minute walk, my favourite pub in London. It has become a destination for people from all over town, the selection of wine, ale and food is top quality, there is a cosy open fireplace during winter, and a huge fairy lit garden in the summer.

A few other local favourites of mine are Betty’s in Chiswick for brunch, Annie’s by the River also amazing. The comedy club at the George on Chiswick High Road is a really fun evening. There is a monthly Sunday vintage market on Chiswick High Road, and an amazing array of charity shops to hunt through, you really don’t need to leave the area unless you want to.
