“Having owned a pied-a-terre in Marylebone for many years, we decided a few years ago to upgrade and look for a proper home. We didn’t want to leave Marylebone, and always wanted to live on Portland Place because the variety of architecture and history is really special. In our opinion, it’s one of the most impressive streets in London. Designed in the 1770s by Robert and James Adam, it is unusually wide, which is why many refer to it as the ‘boulevard of London’.

We wanted a new build apartment, but behind a period facade. Although we were searching for over two years, this apartment was the only one we saw that fitted the tight brief! With the help of Lambart & Browne Architects we have significantly refurbished the apartment, they did an incredible job.  

Split over two floors, it’s great for entertaining by allowing privacy between the reception space and bedrooms. The kitchen is bespoke and hand built, with Italian marble countertops. All appliances are Gagganau, and on the left as you walk in, there is made-to-measure banquet seating.  

All three double bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, are fitted with Sylka carpets and have ample built in wardrobes. There is a utility and laundry room leading from the principal bedroom which is very useful. The light fittings and shades are from Porta Romana. 

One of the best features is the generous garden, something we had always wanted but is hard to find on Portland Place. It was designed by Bestall & Co with built in waterproof furniture, landscaped beds, and a living green wall.  

There is air conditioning and under floor heating throughout with an integrated Smart Home AV system via Control 4. The building has an on-site concierge and the communal hallways have recently been refurbished. There are only seven residences in the building, so it is very quiet and private.

We don’t need to venture too far when we’re in London, as there are lots of great restaurants very close to the apartment including Hakkasan, Roka, Foley’s and the Bonnie Gull, which serves amazing seafood. You can walk easily to Soho, Fitzrovia, Mayfair or Marylebone.

Oxford Circus underground station is a few minutes walk, and Regents Park is located at the end of the Street.”
