Story of the Home
''Walking down Chatsworth Road before our first viewing was exciting and gave us a good understanding of the vibe in the local area. Chatsworth Road has become a destination for locals and Londoners alike and has a lovely community feel, and on Sunday’s there is a popular street market.
Our favourite thing about the apartment isn’t a physical feature as such, but the light. The back bedroom gets the sun first thing in the morning which is nice to wake up with, and the living area gets the evening light.
When we moved in, we refurbished the bathroom, and added stylish floor tiles from Mosaic on Columbia Road. We also landscaped the garden, adding a raised brick patio, summer house and Corten steel raised flower beds, which we love to grow seasonal veggies in. The patio is also the perfect place for entertaining on warm evenings, it gets sun from the morning until the late afternoon.
There is so much to do within walking distance, Daubeney Fields, Hackney Marshes and Regents Canal are literally at the bottom of the garden, and Victoria Park is also close by. We really enjoy walking along the canal to the restaurants and bars of Hackney Wick, and to Stratford if we feel adventurous.
The area has so many pubs, our favourites are The Spread Eagle (London’s first vegan pub) Chesham Arms and The Adam and Eve. As well as delicious brunch spots like Stone Bro's. Or you can try delicious Caribbean food, at Too Sweet or cocktails at Jim’s Cafe, plus quality wine at P Franco and Yard Sale Pizza which is next door. There are also plenty of options for coffee and pastries, our favourite is L'epicerie. The jewel in the crown, is an intimate community funded cinema, The Castle on Chatsworth Road.
The neighbours are nice and transport links are great too, the 242-bus stop is close by, and at the end of the road the 308-bus goes to Stratford. Homerton Overground is just a short walk away and takes you to Stratford, Highbury & Islington, Dalston and all the way to West London!
One other point to mention is that many people along the road have installed gates from their rear gardens, giving direct access onto Daubeney Fields and Hackney Marshes. Quite a cool feature and adds to the overall feeling of how much open space there is in and around the home.''
